I'm hoping that one of you image manipulating wizards can help to improve a scan of an old family photograph.:help:

The original is not a good quality photo but it's important to me as its a scan of one of very few family photos I have where everyone has a nice smile. More important now that my father is no longer with us.

The second is a sample of the higher res jpg with awful colour balance as it came off the scanner. The first is a small jpg with much better colour but its of too low resolution to be worth printing.

If someone with the image manipulating skills could spruce up my original stored here (http://users.tpg.com.au/g_rowe/pic/IMG.jpg) , to something equalling or bettering the low res 1st pic I would very much appreciate it :)

Thanks.

I've saved the jpg from your link Geoff and I'll have a go when I get a chance.
If you have a tiff version it would be even better, perhaps you could let me know and I'll pm you my email.

Theres no tiffs or anything else like that Andrew. This is a scan of an old photo taken by fixed focus el-cheapo snappy cam.

Many thanks to MattyP, Glenhuon and Mrsnipey who had a go and emailed me the results. Its helpful people like you who make IIS a great place to be

Geoff, do you have access to the photo? Scanning again at higher resolution into a TIF file, fiddling with scanner settings as you go, may provide a better image file to work on?
