I am definitely with you on principle, but we are forced to take a bit of notice because of the (I think) unfortunately magnified effect it will have on us through the markets.

I wonder, if the US had not spent squillions on arms and war in Iraq (much of this money leaves the country), would it then have barely noticed the current market downturn. I really do want to fire them (Alan Sugar fashion - "you're a FAILURE") as the leaders of the free world (sorry to IIS yanks, but that's the truth).

I see the biggest banking failure in US history has happened today. Ooohh what does it mean for us?

Predatory behaviour is endemic in the states. Depends on whether you want dumb or dumber. Even the most rabid Republicans are against the sell out or is it buy out. The top excecutives of these failed banks and investment houses are walking away from the absolute mess they have made with tens of millions of dollars with their golden handshakes. These are the same twits that say an odinary worker is greedy for wanting his/her pay to keep pace with inflation.

Unlike Iraq, there actually is a bogeyman this time. The lie this time is Bush & Co. saying they know how to keep the bogeyman away. If a household racks up too much debt it always comes back to bite you - same thing with national economies. I'm looking forward to watching the debate tonight.

I heard a few snippets of the debate earlier, Obama seemed to be the one with more sense, But, they are both pollies, 3 steps down from a used car salesman (sorry if any of you guys do that for a living). kept waiting for McCain to say he was Sharon Stones cousin ( shades of "Head of State") LOL

I think Obama presented a little better, and has a marginally better idea of how to survive the current economic mess. I also think they should introduce speed debating next time; a recording of this one might be useful in Guantanamo interrogations.

I think is obsene that these failed banks and insurance companies are going to be able to sell the bad "instruments" (dodgey loans) to the USA federal gov at a profit no less , and there is no bugger all being done to help the victims of these crooks .... YES CROOKS !!!

Bailing out these companies is big blunder , they should have been allowed to fail , OR the banking and insurance sectors in the USA socialised completely.

It is pretty dumb for the Bush Jr and PTY LTD and his pal McCain and their cronnies to blame the Democrats for this economic debarkle when they have had the power to change things and did SFA for 8 years.
