Hi everyone,
Has been a little while since I have done another DSO other than Comet McNaught C/2008, so after doing the comet I waited for NGC 253 to climb higher in the sky. By then the seeing was a bit better and the air cooler.
Done 16 x 6 min plus darks before I decided to call it a night and have a snooze!
The usual processing with PS and stacking with DSS. Needs more subs as is still a little noisy but PHD done well with the autoguiding..

Imaged with 6" newt and modded 20D.
I think I shall get only a few more imaging runs before the 6" is retired and the 8" is commisioned! :)
Image cropped and resized to about 75%
cheers and thanks for looking!

That's a beautiful image, Gary. The background isn't quite as smooth as your normal efforts but the galaxy itself is very detailed. and beautiful star colours!

Thanks Mike! yes a little noisy but its not a bad piccy for my effort, more subs needed and the nights arn`t as cold anymore so even more subs again...
cheers

Thanks Doug, quiet happy with the detail..:) but not as detailed as your mega data version.
Thanks again!

Thanks Andrew, It came out rather nicely with some help from PS. But even the stacked version straight out of DSS looks very nice to me..

A lovely capture. The dust lanes are sharp and the colours natural. Thanks

Ngc 253. Imaged many many (new) moons before....hence a tough target....

Things I don't like: resolution is on the low side. An unobstructed system would have served you better + higher-res camera + more focal length + aperture...(yep, it never seems to end :) ) ....but you gotta work with what-you-got.....

Good points: absolutely nailed the guiding! Colour looks spot on *and* the stars are not saturated to a bland white.

Overall, Well done!

Thanking you Dan! it needs some more data but its ok for a quicky!
cheers Gary

cheers Matt! thanks for the comment..:)

cheers Peter, you know any donations to upgraded gear are most welcome...;) but a 6" newt is all I have at my disposal. Some more aperture will be coming as well as slightly more focal length which should help...Thanks for looking!...
