My Gemini is not working because of a bug in the PCB. The picture says it all!

Yep that is a bug all right, how the hell did it get in there I might ask, hope there was no damaged done to the unit, though.

I presume through one of the cable holes. Must have been a tight squeeze. Unfortunately, there was damage done and repairs are needed.

Well that gives me sense of urgency to cover the couple of plugs not used on my Gemini Unit, never really thought of bugs getting in there, but as I can see it dose happen.

About this bug business, I was considering getting a couple of dummy connectors and plugging the spare ports so to speak, no wires attached of coarse.

I don't suppose this would have any effect on the unit, would it.

Wow! Just read that Geoff.:eyepop: What a b***ch. I hope you're not up for too much in repairs. I'm taping my unused ports too.

I "bug proofed" mine now :) . I had a closer look at all the connections and nothing can actually get in through the ports. It's a dead end for a bug that size.But there are a few gaps big enough between the Feature, RS-232 and AutoGuider ports on the gemini plate to let something that big crawl in. There are also tiny gaps on the sides of the hand controller plug on the gemini. Other than that it's pretty much as tight as it gets. I still can't believe this thing crawled back right up and got fried on the other corner of the box. It travelled a fair way inside the box to get there.

I hadn't used my scope for a while because of clouds, so I imagine it it plenty of time to crawl around before I switched on the power and zapped it.
