Last Friday 19 September, whilst scanning around and waiting for things to cool down, Charlie Borg and myself decided to try and capture Comet 6P d'Arrest which at the moment is in Gruis, on the off chance 'we may pick it up' as a pre systems check.
Its a rough and ready image but the comet is visible.
This is a single 4 minute exposure at 1600ISO. Correct me if I'm wrong but Skymap Pro reckons this comet is mag 12.3.
I suppose it may be good to keep an eye on it.

Hi Paul,
Wow great capture! Looks like a difficult Comet at the moment. What camera were you using?

Nice shot, you've captured a lot of the diffuse dust coma! Currently running in the mid 8s mag - check this link for updated comet news:

HI Troy,
Thanks mate, I'm using my trusty Canon 350D Unmodded, primefocus with a Skywatcher 102 Achromatic piggybacked on my LX200GPS.
Rob thanks for the comet update, I will bookmark that link. The diffuse dust is something I'd overlooked in the image...interesting.

Nicely done Paul. I might have a try myself. Wonder if I'd get it in the ED80? Should do with a modded camera. I'll give it a go. Thanks for the inspiration

Thanks Mike...it sure is a faint thing. Apparently there are predictions it may flare up, we will have to see.
Paul, I don't think you will have a problem with the ED80, give it a go and see, thanks for your words.
