Heilig-Bloedbasiliek (HDR)

Hi all,

Here are some images from inside the Heilig-Bloedbasiliek (Basilica of the Holy Blood), in Brugge, Belgium.

It is claimed that a few coagulated drops of Jesus' blood are kept and cherished in some kind of vessel.

Personally, I don't believe in this claim, however, it's still a beautiful church.

How about that gorgeous glow in the second image? ;)

Each HDR image is a composition of five photographs.

Mannekin Pis and Le Grand Place was about all I ever saw in Brussels even there I have been a couple of times (on work, and along time ago)

The HDR is coming into its stride here with the large dynamic ranges of
light intensities that are not uncommon within cathedrals. The simultaneous
correct exposure of the stained glass and the darker interior with all its
intricate detail beautifully captured is what it is all about. Your patience in
using the tripod, setting up the shots and in the last two, avoiding other
pesky tourists getting in the shot, has paid off in visual dividends.

Thank goodness places you can burn images onto CDROM or DVD are
ubiquitous around the world these days, as I can imagine you had
to unload the memory cards a few times with all this great data.

I had a sore back by the end of my backpacking trip!

As for my captured data -- here's a protip: I used an iPod photo adapter. It is the best little device, ever. I didn't even pay for it -- my work colleague loaned it to me, along with his 30 GB iPod (the one which allows you view photographs). You basically get the supplied USB cable that comes with your camera, put one end into the camera, the other end into the iPod photo adapter, which then plugs into your iPod. Turn the iPod on, and it automagically downloads all your images off the CompactFlash card and stores them onto the iPod. It even gives you the option to format the card! Not just that, but, it supports RAW (*.CR2) format files, too. I shot everything in RAW whilst over in Europe.

When I got back, I just connected the iPod to my computer, it shows up as an external drive, and then just grabbed all the directores off there with my image data. Too easy!
