Hi Everyone,

Just joined today. I have been looking for a discussion group to join to learn and get advice on astronomy as a hobby.

Afew days ago I got my first telescope ever....

Skywatcher SW600 with eq5 mount.

I paid $500 for it brand new.

I managed to assemble it without too much trouble and got a chance to see Jupiter with the naked eye......what can I say but WOW!!!!!!!!!

The moon was equally as exciting but the seeing jupiter with my own scope and my own eyes from my back yard was amazing considering its distance from earth. I hope be able to ask for tips and guidence on using my new scope along with help on searching and gazing at wonderous astronomical bodies above.

Why didnt I get into this when I was younger........

Anyways I am here now and enjoying it.

Welcome to IIS Rocco, good to hear about your first experience with your new toy.

You've come to the right place, IIS is chock full of friendly and experienced people, if you have any questions just ask (you'll certainly need to know about collimation sooner or later).

Where abouts in the country/world are you?? (you can put your location including Lat/Long in your profile BTW) :D

Can I ask where you got that deal?

That's kinda the setup I'm looking at, but that's less than half the price at Bintel...
