Guys - Here is my 2008 Rho. It is a big leap forward from the 07 model. Noise management efforts have paid off well. It was much easier to process. I am not super happy with the colours. I think they are a little muted but Saturation in PS seems to make it a bit noisy and vulgar so maybe this is all I can get without more data. I used the dodge and burn tools quite a bit on the dark nebula to give more texture. It seems to have worked while remaining subtle enough not be obvious that its been done.

Montewilson,

Wow very nice colours! Any chance of a higher res version?

Sure - I don't have anywhere I can post it. Any suggestions??

I can do a 5 - 10mb jpg.

I even have the original 60Mb TIF for the hardcore.

Regards

Monte

Very impressive. How many hours of data were required in total to make up this image?

I think it was 4 x10 minutes for each channel with the FSQ-106 and an STL-11000m.

Excellent image Monte! Fantastic detail within the nebula and lovely colour.

I'd love to see a Hi-Res version as well. :D

To do so, you can make an account on Photobucket and upload it there.

Beautiful image Monte, I like the subtle colours, sometimes less is more. The only thing I'd like is a wider FOV.

Thanks Guys and Gals for all the lovely comments. I try to limit the number of images I post to the best ones or the ones that are testing my patience the most.

Martin - the filters are Astrodon R G B.

M4 is burnt out because I was a bit careless when I did the curves. I guess I was concentrating on the dust or something else and didn't notice until it was too late. I might get motivated to fix it some time.

Hi Dan - and NB to all! As Dan has done crop the image so there is no stretching when it is installed as wallpaper. If not it looses quite a bit of its appeal as the stars get distorted and look unfocused.

Also I am delighted that some of you are using it on your desktops. It makes me feel very proud.

Thanx
