At 14:30 hr to day I am starting the long road to retirement after working in the mining industry for last 28 years and 27 years for Warkworth Mining and working for the last 42 years I will be starting 40 weeks of long service at the end retiring .
In next couple of month I will be starting building a home for my telescope instead (will supply plenty of pic of the construction) spending hours setting up and then pull down to store inside.
This well allow me to send more time viewing the heavens through the week instead of weekend as I had to get out of bed at 4:45 to go to work so I was in bed no later then 9pm most night .The one thing will not miss will that alarm going off each morning
P.S I will see you all at IISAC
Ian C

Congrats Ian. Sounds like you are looking forward to it. ;)

Seems there's a bit of an observatory building flurry going on atm. Maybe setting up and pulling down and setting up and pulling down and setting up and pulling down night after night after night after night when the cloud moves in when the fog moves in when the dew moves in with the moon comes up is no longer entertaining.

Enjoy the retirement Ian. You'll probably end up like me with so many things to do you'll wonder how you found time to work
I haven't heard an alarm clock for 2 years and don't miss it a bit.

Cheers

Congratulations on your retirement, mate. Did it 9 years ago and moved north to our new house.
Those alarm clocks don't bother me...I get up at 0430 (well, gotta pee) :rofl:to see what's in the sky and what's on the internet.
Hope you have a long and enjoyable time.
