First attempts with the 300D. Moon was too bright for anything faint so went for a couple of Globulars. Still working on exposure times, and combining images. 21 x 60 sec images of Tuc 47 and 40x20sec for Omega Centauri, stacked in DSS and tweaked in Photoshop.

Great First attempt Bill. The core of 47 tuc is a hard one requiring lots of short exposures to resolve the core well.

Keep at it mate.

Good stuff Bill :) Very nice for your first effort with this camera! What scope were you using?

Very nice Bill,

As doug mentioned, 47tuc requires shorter exposures to get the core as its fairly bright. Next time you're imaging, get 10-20 30 sec subs as well, and then stack the 30sec subs with the 60sec subs and it should come out trumps! :)

A great first attempt Bill, they both half come out very nicely.

Keep it up. :)

These objects are among the hardest to get right. I can remember my first attempt and you are WAY in front of me ... and I have a couple of reasonably resolved ones now ... you can look forward to that too. For a first attempt it hats orf from me.

Was using the 150 F5 newt on a Synscan EQ5. Had another couple of runs at different exposures but have'nt had time to process them yet. Was given a link to a site with info on how to combine different exposures so will have a go at that too. Still learning to drive Photoshop :)
Set the mount up using the 102mm F7 Surplus Shed Refractor, but wasn't happy with the views through it, it may have been the sky conditions at the time. I'll give that another whirl once the weather improves.
