Not quite the same camera I believe. I believe the QHY and the starshooter are very similar but both read the imaging CCD in a different manner. I don't know the full story but it may be in your better interest to contact Theo "Gama" on this site as he is the QHY dealer in Australia and he can fill you in on the different chip reading methods. The mono qhy is cheaper and I've never failed to get a guide star with it. In fact since getting the mono qhy5, I haven't touched the screws on the guide rings.

As I have a 40d I will be using the GHY as a guide camera.Robin you said that the mono is cheaper ?The price explained to me was the mono was cheapest. What do you use?

I meant cheaper than the orion, I think the colour QHY5 is cheaper than the mono one by a few dollars but the mono is a little more sensitive than the colour one. I have a mono one, I only want to use it for guiding.
