Back in the late 70's, early 80's, the ABC television station put on David Attenborough's "Life on earth" series.
At the time it had a particularly beautiful theme track to it. I Don't know what it was called and all my searches only seem to turn up the living planet music. Even now, when you buy it on DVD, it has different music.
Can anyone help?
Baz.:D

Yup, I can help you with that one Barry. That track is from an album called "The Pyramid" by the Alan Parsons Project and yes, it is a beautiful piece of music.
My only disappointment with that great documentary was that it didn't feature the advertised soundtrack.
Although I haven't checked, I'd be quietly confident that the cd is readily available.
Cheers.
:hi: Hi there Baz check out this site cheers

Are you sure about alan parsons? I have been searching all night and it looks like it may be a composer by the name of Edward Williams.
Now if I can just find something I can listen to to make sure. I think I have utubed every Alan Parsons song possible and have heard nothing like the one I heard back when life on earth showed on the ABC.

No, honestly mate. It's from Pyramid by the Alan Parsons Project. I used to have the vinyl and I could never play it without getting an image in my mind of that banded legged frog leaping across the screen in slow motion on the promo. Cant remember the track title but I'm pretty sure it was one of the first 3.(Side 1 on the vinyl)
Don't know Edward Williams though. Maybe he wrote the music that was actually used in the series?

Christopher Parsons was the Exec. Producer of the Life On Earth series. Edward Williams was in charge of music. Maybe Alan Parsons was asked to provide fill at some stage, but I can't remember it as such.

The Alan Parsons music was only used by ABC in their promo for the series and was never used in the series proper. Scanning production notes for the series won't show you this information.
Jen very thoughtfully provided a link directly to what you want a couple of posts down. You may have to down load the entire album to find what you want as I can't remember the track title concerned. Be aware that you're searching for a short sequence of about 16 bars of music, if that.
Go to the link that the Lovely Jen provided, download the entire album if you have to, and you'll have the piece of music you're after.
Otherwise, you'll never, never know.:)

FOUND IT!!!
Thanks everyone for the trail of breadcrumbs. It was on the track, "In the lap of the Gods."
I found a U-Tube video of it and the actual tune used on the series is at 1 minute 53 seconds.

It's not EXACTLY the same - different instruments were used for the series, but it is the same tune.
Awesome. Now all I have to do is find the actual music score used in the inroduction of the show.
Thanks folks,
Baz.:D
:clap::clap: Good work Baz cheers
