Was out again tonight, ran off about 150 images of 10 different targets...

Just processed up the first one. NGC 104, or 47Tuc.

Taken with 350D + 70-200 F/4L + Canon 1.4 Extender

20x40sec subs @ ISO800, stacked in DSS with some minor adjustments in PS-CS3

Its NEARLY 100% crop from the original image. resized down about 16%

Thanks for looking.
Alex.

Nice one Alex - but I think you're pushing the resolution of the setup there.
Point it to the right a bit and take in the magnificence of the SMC at that FL!!

I think your Megrez 90 would do a far nicer job on this target - in fact I can't wait to see what you'll produce with all the goodies you possess!!!!

That said, you've done a nice bit of processing too - no core burnout and the Histogram isn't clipped...very sharp for a big crop!!
Well done
Doug

Thanks doug. I agree, the M90 would be better suited to this target, but my alignment is average, and guiding is not working for me at the moment.. :) longer focal lengths are alot less forgiving.. :)

heres a re-pro of that shot, did a smart sharpen that I forgot to do before, and this time it is a 100% crop.

Also, here is another shot from tonight of Omega Cent. :) I'm pretty happy with myself I must say!

Thanks Jen... The rest of my shots from last night are a bit iffy... I should have known that Antares was too close to the moon... 3 minute subs cam out stark white.

Nice images Alex, they have come out great for such a short focal length.

The last image you have posted has especially come out very nicely. Good detail and nice colour.

Once you get your guiding setup I'm really looking forward to see what you can produce.

Well done

Matty, Thanks, I quite like them, I've got a much wider crop of my 47tuc image as my desktop background.. That and the omega shots are perhaps my best deepsky shots yet despite their tiny size in the full field of view...

Guiding.. well.. I've got all the bits and pieces, but PHD can not move the mount... So i think that the cable I have is wired wrong... I've lined up a new one thanks to Robin (Tandum)...

I've found that finding guide stars can be a problem on some targets.. M8 was no issues, 47tuc and omega cent were near impossible, mind you they I was using the 8" newt with the DBK so i wasn't looking at a real wide fov... I think once the side by side bar shows up and i can guide with the ST80 I'll find more stars...
