Hi All
I've now had an opportunity to do some visual observations with my new Apo on a couple of occasions and it blows my socks off seriously. Lunar views are amazingly bright, sharp, high contrast and no false colour that I can see. The unobstructed view through the refractor is brilliant. I have a 4mm Vixen LV eyepiece which I rarely used with my Newts but with the William Optics this is a joy to behold. I even used it with a 2x Barlow last night ( 385 x's magnification ) and it still yields a sharp well illuminated view. The virtually zero image shift fine tuning of the focuser on the WO really helps at this mag. Using the same eyepiece on Jupiter last night without the barlow ( 192.5 x's mag ) revealed rich detail that I have not seen before. The GRS was very distinct with festoons of clouds surrounding it and multiple bands of clouds visible across the whole globe. Colours ranging from pale grey/blues through to rich brownish reds .... AMAZING !
So in my opinion the William Optics FLT110 Triplet Apo is a beautiful instrument and has resurrected my interest in visual astronomy even in my highly light polluted location. Ofcourse I can still only basically use it here for lunar, planetary and cluster viewing .... skyglow levels are way too high for nebula or galaxy observation like I used to experience it in my previous dark sky spot. However that is soon to be a reality once more early next year.
If you are in the market for a triplet apochromatic refractor I highly recommend this scope.
