I bought a 10' Meade Lx-50 roughly 10 years back and as you can imagine have been very disappointed ever since. It was claimed that it was ideal for astrophotography but alas not and as such have rarely taken it out.

My question now is do I try and sell will all the bits and pieces (focal reducer/off axis guider/ full app solar filter etc) and buy something that can be used for Astro or purchase a new mount?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Take the OTA off, put on some losmandy rails and attach it to either a Losmandy G11 or an EQ6 mount. Thats what I did and never regretted it

Thanks for the reply

Was it difficult to do this and what was the rough cost for the mount?

Hi Ponch,

all the Losmandy and EQ6 options can be found at https://www.bintelshop.com.au/welcome.htm

Look under "Mounts" on the left hand side.

Cheers
