Well for lack of a better title, here's my capture from yesterday's group shot of the moon, Venus, Mercury and Mars just after sunset.

It truly was a spectacular sunset here so I waited till it was the last of the sunlight available so I could capture the brilliant tones across the horizon.

This shot was at 34mm at f/2.8 and 13 sec (tripod) exposure with ISO 200 on the 20Da.

Also here's the larger file size version (390kb)

Hope you like it because I decided to overexpose the crescent moon so I could capture the beauty of the sunset and also the lovely starry sky.

An excellent photo RB; very atmospheric and quite pleasing to the eye. I can just make out some detail in the Moon, which adds a further element of interest and shows your mastery in the art of exposure and controlling highlights!

Cheers

Very Nice RB.

Great colours with an interesting foreground as well.
It was a nice touch to overexpose the Moon to get the stars. You have captured them so well.

In all its a really beautiful shot.

Cheers Geoffro.

Very nice RB! The earthshine is certainly bright, but you've gotten away with it well. I expected more glare from the illuminated portion of the moon. Lovely colours in the sunset too.

There is something about the silhouette of a leafless tree against a sunset that I like... like anti-lightning or something...:P:lol:

Beautiful!!!
Would look fantastic as a 20"x30" framed and hanging on the wall.

I'd like to get this one printed up.

LOL 'anti-lightning', I like that description Al.
It does resemble that.

Lovely capture Andrew! I think going for as long a exposure as you have done has brought out those lovely sunset hues!

Lovely shot RB!

Judging by the title, I half expected a slightly inappropriate image of a gathering at the Pony Club with someone hunched over, exposing their black hole to rest of us.

Very serene photograph you've tken there Andrew.... :)

Dang pity about that wavering bush, it's a little distracting, but fabulous colour and composition! Noice

Yeah Gary I took a bit of a risk and allowed the exposure to run longer so I could capture more detail, hence the unavoidable slight movement in the trees as Chris said, since it was quite breezy that evening.

LOL Rod, :P , do you recognise the spot at all?
It's were we met up that night to view/image McNaught and we ended up with an audience and an undeterred visitor.
