You Beauty!!!
I started out with just the idea of the ring and the shadow forming a heart shape as I had seen it before in wedding photos. The trick was finding a book that was thick enough to do it and that would provide the right stand for the ring to stand still. I grabbed the nearest thick book which happened to be O'Meara's Caldwell Objects, then the link to my favourite DSO type (planetary rings) sprung to mind. It took a bit of work to find the right page and intially I was going to show it next to the picture but I couldn't get the composition right. Then I realised if I could find the right line in the text then I could also get the result I wanted. I managed to get both M57 and NGC3132 in the same line and isolated in focus - and the result is what you see.
Haven't thought long about this month's challenge subject , so how about we run with "Reflection".
Congrats Andrew what a wonderful photo it is too, very well executed, perfect DOF and composition.

Thanks for the comments all - I was happy with the way it came out and I enjoyed adding the bit of cryptic cleverness :)
I hope the "reflection" theme has peoples minds ticking over already
It's a good theme selection Andrew. The old grey matter is already ticking over.
Cheers
