Hello all
I have a few plans for the data I have collected on the Helix Nebula,
but this version is a combination of a NB image (created from just HA
and OIII) and RGB for good star colour.
I was really pleased with the result, which occurred with little
manipulation. The graduation of colours in the nebula is quite amazing.
I plan to produce a Hubble palette NB image also, but need several more
hours SII first.....then there is HARGB!
Anyway, this is 14 hours HA/OIII and 12 hours RGB....over the top for
just star colour, but as I say, I plan to use the RGB data later.
STL11K, AOL, 12.5" RC
I hope you like it.
cheers
Martin

It's amazing what you achieve, even without a 24" light-bucket :)
Simply excellent Martin

That is a really unique and beautiful image Martin.
Fantastic work.
Greg.
Good work Martin. Looking forward to seeing your SHO palette version to see how well you can bring out the SII data and suppress the Ha from dominating the image.

Holy Helix Batman! such depth and detail in the main nebula ring!
I love how image benchmarks move along, this is a great image and up there with the best amateur images of the Helix taken to date but who knows what amateurs will be doing on the Helix in another 2 years time...and then another 2 years after that and by 2020 who knows......:eyepop:

The deep sky imaging forum is the best way to have a new desktop background every few days thats for SURE!
