I was lucky to get a few hours of imaging in on Friday night.
Not completely lucky though, as out of 4 hours of images of this only about 1.5 hours was OK due to some high clouds ahead of the front that brought rain to NSW over the weekend.
Apogee U16M camera, FSQ106ED with reducer giving F3.64 and a very wide field of view, Tak NJP mount at my dark site observatory. FLI filter wheel.
LRGB 15 30 15 30
Baader 50mm square filters.

Nice one Greg,
What adapter(s) do you use to connect the Taka to the U16?

I have a Precise Parts adapter which is actually set to the correct metal back distance for an Apogee FW50 7 position filter wheel which is enroute to me.
It means that with the FLI filter wheel the spacing is 4 to 6mm off from the correct distance and it causes a small amount of trouble as a result. Hopefully corrected with the Apogee filter wheel.
There is a standard adapter for the STL11 which I also have and that gives pinpoint stars to the corner of an STL11. From memory it is 25mm.

A very grand looking image! The square format and tight stars really gives it a pro look - like a UK Schmidt plate :P
Nicely done Greg
Mike
Very nice indeed Greg
You've captured some wonderful detail and colour in this one.

Thanks Jase.
My Tak BRC250 arrived today so perhaps a suburban imaging session is in order tomorrow night.
A clear night is forecast as well.

Hehe thanks Mike.
I am looking forward to using it. F5 imaging and 10 inches of aperture.
It is also a perfect match for the 16803 chip.

Yes Giovanni Benintende has been using this FLI & Tak combo for some beautiful results:

The image of Sh2-136 at the top of the page is one of the most amazing astroimages I have ever seen :eyepop:
If you can get results like Giovanni....sigh...you will still most likely sell the BRC at some stage anyway and move right along to something else super-duper

I guess you haven't seen a UK Schmidt plate then Fred..?
They are 14" X 14" glass plates (ie negatives) with incredible detail and teeny weeny stars, nebulae and distant galaxies all over them. You can hold them up and look right through them like you are looking at a slice of the Universe. Imagine not having to enlarge your subs ie they came off a 14" X 14" chip :eyepop:

Giovanni's images were one of the main reasons I decided to get this scope.
The other is Tak has never disappointed me and I also wanted to image at F5 as my time away is limited and I can't do megadata easily with the F9 RC which is what it really needs to do it justice.
Also something with a smaller profile for imaging when windy with my current observatory and location which is often a bit windy.
Wind doesn't bother the AP or the FSQ but the RCOS was a lot larger and stuck up into the windstream over the top of my observatory.
A Planewave CDK 17 inch or 20 inch would be something I'd be interested in for future setups. F6.8.
