In response to Franks M27 (excellent may I say) here is a fantastic image by Richard Crisp using just Ha and OIII that clearly shows a jet eminating from the central star in the Dumbell. The jet in the forground is coming out of the page ending in a red flame like feature in front of and to the right of the main nebula while the flame at the end of the corresponding rearward shooting jet can be seen just above the outer edge of the main nebula at the 10 oclock position:

Interesting that it stands out so clearly in this image, yet ive never been aware of it in other pictures, have to have a closer look to see if i can see it elsewhere too.

Now that's funny. I imaged this Thurs/Fri night in HaOIIIOIII.
I thought the jet was an issue with my filters
I definately have to work on my focus.:)

Nice image that Mike, never knew anything about a jet structure in M27..
Had a look at my recent go and you can see it there after I done some more stretching of the image...
Thanks for that bit og info!
Indeed, it can take a little squeezing to extract the jet. Here's some OIII data of M27 which shows jet - its the darker ejector on either side. Take with the Lighbuckets 24" RC. A reprocess of the Ha/OIII version with the data similar to that of Richard's is still work in progress.
