Hi guys, I've been doing some more playing. Here is a quick wide field from last Saturday night. ISO 800, 93s, Canon 40d at f4 28mm using a wide lens. I was hoping to do some stacking of a few of these from the night to reduce the noise but the best i could do was this one shot, with some editing of course. I think that my tracking needs some serious help, sick of those big globs...just have to keep at it I guess. Steve:)

Thats a great photo Steve, shame about getting some of the scope or whatever that is in there. I really like the colour you've got there ... REALLY.
What part of the sky is that you've captured ??

Good one Steve... the colours are really nice.

That's the camera mounted to your scope? What's the red light?

I am a stickybeak, aren't I? :)

I had the scope roughly aimed a Sagittarius. Next time I'll have to put the camera on the front piggy back mount! Digital Photo Professional is on a CD that came with the 40d, an excellent program that can do amazing things with colours. The Moon photos with the colourful textures are fun with this program too.

The red light is one of the front spider vane screws on the outside of the tube. Don't ask me about the glow though, no idea!

Top shot Steve, actually with the scope and that red light really sets off the image, ;) it gives the impression that you are looking at something and was able to capture it as well.

It reckon that shot has real character, well done indeed ;)

Leon

Hi Jeff

That's is the galactic centre of the Milky Way, hence the bright light source in the centre of the image, although some will possibly dispute this.

Welcome home earthling ;)

I'm with Leon on this one, the scope in the image really adds another dimension to it.

For only 92 seconds of data you have a great job Steve.

Well done. :)

Awesome! I like the scope in the foreground too :)
Puts the whole shot in perspective. This thing is huge! What is it?

Thanks for all the positive comments... isn't it funny that the stuff you sometimes spend the least amount of time pleases people more than the elusive prime focus shots! I have now included the original image if you'd all like to have a look. At the expense of bringing out more colour i have lost the star sharpness, and tips? I have also included the original just with contrast up and brightness down.:):):).
