2 HDR Images

I have being do some homework on HDR imaging and I must say it's very exciting......it's not everyone's cup of tea and some people may not like this type of imaging at all, but the point is I do so I am going keep producing them.

HDR imaging is very speculative there is no right or wrong ways of processing it's what you like. some of the best HDR images produced look very fake but very artistic.

Anyway I will stop my rambling I hope you like these even though they are still a bit overexposed around the sun region....still got a lot to learn.

Taken with 40D & Canon 10-22..... 3 exposures combined and processed in Photomatix.

It's like DSO imaging grab a few images that on their own look very ordinery over and under exposed then combine them then add tone mapping and wow.

Hi Tony, lovely shots.:thumbsup: I've tried my hand at a few HDR's and have had some nice results...some disasters too. For these sort of shots (sunsets) I've starting using a graduated neutral density filter to darken the skies and try and get it in one shot. The problem I've found with HDR is movement, especially those darn clouds, they just wont stay still.:P

I meant to ask whether you've found Photomatrix is better than the HDR merge in CS3?

Hi Rob, regarding movement the 3 shots are all taken within in approx a second so the cloud movement should be negligible.

Regarding software I have been playing with CS3, Photomatix & Dynamic Photo HDR.
The die hards will always say CS3 but for ease of use both Photomatix and Dynamic HDR are easy to use giving good results.

Dynamic HDR does seem to push tone mapping further then Photomatix but pushed to a level that is not needed for my imaging.

You can get the photomatix plugin for CS3 but I am using the stand alone program.

But I like them all.
