Hi all

Skies were nice and clear last night, and while the seeing started out less than average, it improved over the session and this image was taken right at zenith just before a meridian flip was needed. I would've liked to have continued imaging but I'd already promised my wife I'd be back inside by 8:30pm (I made that promise when the seeing wasn't as good doh! LOL :))

The WSZ is very prominent at the CM (NEBn) (some material can be seen swirling on the following edge) and the rest of the NEB is very busy with the NEB outbreak on the p side coming up to the CM. The SEB is also very busy with an outbreak around the same longitude as the NEB outbreak.

My motivation had been declining for the last few months; a run of good seeing would certainly help lift the spirits. Hopefully I can get a few more nights like this before Jupiter disappears for me for another year. With trees in my backyard I lose it about an hour past zenith so I've only got 3-4 weeks or so to go.

12" newt, 5x powermate, DMK21AU04. 60s each channel, ~700 frames from each stacked.

Thanks for looking.

edit: attached a second image which was from 30 minutes earlier.

That's a great image! I like how crisp and defined all the details look. Thanks for getting out there and sharing it! Very inspirational!

Mike, I will give you 9.25 out of a 10 score, would give you higher but one can always improve.

Very nice image always a pleasure opening your images.

8:30pm is late enough at your age.

Great capture Mike, love the detail !

I must say though that I prefer the colour rendition in the second one again.

Jakob at least you're out there having fun mate, I can't remember the last time I imaged Jupiter.

Nice one again, Mike. I like the first one, too. It's the best Jup I've seen in a while (but I haven't been downloading them all because of download limitations...)

Nice one, Mike.

I know what you mean about the motivation.

I've been a bit ho-hum with the whole imaging thing of late, too. However, I'm sure that's mostly due to the almost constantly rubbish conditions.

I just need a stretch of a few days or a week of excellent seeing to fire me up again:help:
