Solar eclipse from Novosibisk

I returned from my trip to Russia and Mongolia to observe the last
solar eclipse :D . As the journey was long I have not brought any astronomical equipment. Only my 350D and 55-250 zoom. But I could get
beautiful pictures. I hope you like.

It must have been fantastic to witness such an event.
Love both shots, but it's a pity you got a reflection in the second shot, probably caused by the filter on your lens.

What was it like being there? Did you get time to enjoy it or was it a mad stressful rush with equipment etc?

Next year you have a great opportunity, Mike. A large eclipse of more than 6 minutes. This has been my seventh eclipse :D and now I have no stress. But an eclipse is an absolut must in a life.
Minimum Equipment and see the eclipse with the naked eye is best. Plus, the eclipse has been part of my holidays and have been 21 days in Russia, Mongolia and Transiberian train ...

I am not quite sure of wanting to remove the reflection of the filter.
Obviously is not part of the picture but it adds something to the image that I like.

In addition in other images (morning I try to retouch another) that reflection allows see very well the profile of the Moon.

Thanks for the shots and great to hear you had some luck!

I understand perfectly why someone would travel half way around the
world to witness totality. It certainly is the most spectacular of regular
celestial phenomena and by far the most psychologically disturbing. :)
