Left or right eye?

As I said in my observing report (http://www.iceinspace.com/index.php?id=33,97,0,0,1,0) this morning, I had to view with my left eye for the majority of the session, and I found that the objects were harder to bring into focus..

What eye do you normally view with?
Do you have problems moving to the "other" eye?
Is it just a case of one eye being stronger than the other, being the dominant one?
Would a lot more practise with my left eye enable it to view things easier?

I always view with my right eye, and I always look down a weapon (either iron sights or scope) with my right eye as well. That's probably because I'm right handed. I can look through with my left eye as well, but I perfer to use my right. Things look slightly different out of each eye (things look a bit more vivid out of my right) but I can't determine the differene when both are open.

I view with my left eye despite the fact that I am right handed. In fact I once heard that Right handed people were best suited to left eye observing. And; I have for the most part seen this in action. There is the rarity of those who observe with the same side eye.

I use my right eye but find at times that I have a little astigmatizim which at first thought was a bad eyepiece.
Tried my left and what do you know , no distorted stars .
I do wear glasses for long distance viewing but don't need them for close up , but I did not relise that there is a small amout of astigmatizim correction . Have been using the left more now but find you have to start the night out using the left or things just don't seem the same if you swap over .

i use both actually, im so used to using microscopes with dual lenses tho :S i find my right eye focuses better, im right handed.
If you practise focusing with your 'weaker' eye, then it will strengthen up in time and you should be able to focuse better with it, provided your not too old and your lenses havent lost their elasticity.

I don't think i'm too old! :) I'm not quite 30 yet :)

I need to practise some more with my left eye I guess, it just doesn't come to focus as crisply as my right at the moment.

It's been a while since this thread was posted but I was thinking of asking this question myself as both my wife and sister-in-law are right handed and view with their left eyes. I thought it was odd, but after reading this post, maybe I'm the odd one.
I'm right handed and view through my right eye. I can view with my left, and the views are brighter but I see less colour, especially on the red stars. They tend towards brown.

I am right handed and definitely left eyed. I thought that was strange, but maybe not ...

I'll have to try some right-eyed observing. Just for practice.

I'm a right handed, right eyed person too. I can use my left eye but it's weaker than my right.

I don't like to pollute my eyes with direct light, just the PC screen for me so they both get into the action:D

I am right handed and use my right eye mostly. However my left eye is better for seeing really faint objects, but it is harder to focus.
It's a good idea to view with one eye and look at maps etc with the other.

I must be a rarity, I'm a lefty and observe with my left eye. Actually the
scope I'm building at present will be more suited to a lefty. Right hand
guide, left side to observe and dial up objects on the AN. But I do make
a conserted effort to use my right eye at times. But mostly it really doesn't
worry me which eye, but the left usually gets the workout.

Same here. I get so much more detail on things like m104 with my left eye, but i have to look for longer to get detail to show up. Things like bright emission nebs and planets im all right eye. Ambidexterous though. Can write clearly and ledgably with both hands.

Right handed, right eye, cant quite get the hang of both eyes open, I get the image of the scope in the way. May have to make or buy an eye patch...arrrr me hearties...yearggggh

The other day I went to Big W and I told the shop assistant I needed some related things: an eyepatch, shower caps, an adjustable height chair, and a removalist's trolley.

I think she thought I was planning a buck's night. :D

Left handed, & use the left eye to observe. My left eye is stonger than my right and not wearing glasses when I observe I find the left eye a lot better.
