This was from Texas yesterday. I spent a lot of time using a Cat Cooler on my C8 because of the heat here in Texas, and my experience from two nights ago where it looked like heat waves and a BBQ inside my OTA (despite being outside for 2 hours).
I tried to do LRGB, but adding the L channel resulted in a poor outcome.
Three 1 min avi's, DMK 21AF04.AS
Orion Filter Wheel and filters
2X Powermate and C8
Processed with Registax, Astraimage, Images Plus and PS CS3

That is a fine image of Jupiter especially given the low altitude you guys in the N hemisphere have to contend with. Some very nice detail visible in there, good work!
It looks a little washed out on my display?
Cheers

Thanks Dennis,
Jupiter is about at 36 degrees for me here in Texas. I have it better than some who have it just above the horizon.
I agree about it being washed out, Here is another try with a little bit of curves and increased saturation..............Jim

Nice result with some good detail, Jim. Excellent for the altitude. We are sooo lucky down here atm. Can I ask, what part of the processing did you do in Images Plus?

Nice job. The temperature may drop a little more quickly for you but there haven't been many nights lately with good seeing for us. So, it may just be an uncooperative atmosphere. Did you notice the same thing on 8/10? That night wasn't bad. I haven't been our much lately due to the Olympics...

Lovely result for 36°!
The first one seems a bit desaturated, the second a bit over saturated..
Perhaps its just the red channel appearing too strong.

Thanks all!
The atmosphere may have been bad around 8/10 when it just looked like a lot of heat waves, I attributed this due to my scope having a hard time equilibrating with the hot night, but the seeing was not great that night either.
With Images Plus I am am taking the RGB frames and centering them and then doing the RGB combine. I was used to using Images Plus for my DSO's and really liked the centering and combine. I know there are a whole set of planetary features, but so far I like Registax for aligning and wavelets, Astraimage for LR deconvolution and IP for my centering and RGB combine.
I took one last stab at getting the saturation correct.
