Very nice shots David...
So sharp they nearly cut my eyes just from looking! :)
How'd you get so close to the owl? big lens? or heavy crop? Either way, Brilliant...
Mwahahahha..... The bird photographers have semi-converted you! :D

so just very slow movements so as to not scare the owl away I assume.

Fess up Dave,
I just tried to image a Kookaburra with the 70-200mm and had no chance.
Your's have got some nice color a lot better then our Bland brown one's.
I like them both.
Neat work.
oh ok, it was in a wildlife parky thing...

Nice shots Dave, well done.

if kyou can find a tame enough kooka you can get quite close to them in the wild. i remember one near a light house near nelsons bay that i could get real close to.

yeah. Kooka's are usually friendly enough. Its the owl that had me beat. Regardless of where they were taken, they are very very nice.
its posible to get up close to owls too... being nocturnal you just have to know where they sleep during the day. I ran into one near work (rockdale) while chasing fairy wrens. they generally dont fly away when you aproach them during the day, i guess its the whole "top of the food chain" thing. I got within 3 meters of this owl near work (barking owl). i posted pics here if you want to look for them. :)
dont worry i found em for ya
