Finally got around to processing these moon avi's from 7/12/08. I underestimated the effort to process them or I probably would have gotten to them even later. The first picture shows them in the approximate position from that night (06:00 UT). The second one shows them about four times closer to the planet.

Wow Dave, that is an incredible Jupiter image! Extremely fine detail and great colour.

Very well done, the seeing must've been superb that night.

It reminded me of a similar one I did in May last year, showing all moons at their correct positions (http://www.iceinspace.com.au/mygallery/displayimage.php?pos=-520), including this animation (http://www.iceinspace.com.au/downloads/20070511-jupiter_anim.gif).

I can sympathise with the amount of work required!

yep, thats a stunner alright! :)

Isn't it interesting to see Mike's image of Jupiter from a little over a year ago, then look at Dave's image from 2 weeks or so ago, and see how much Jupiters storm systems have evolved.....

Incredible planet that...

Thanks for all the comments.

Mike,
That's a very nice sequence. I only hope to aspire to do something close to that one day (or decade).
I had a lot of video from that night that I never went through. I guess the seeing begs me to do a little more work.

Stunning work Dave,

It it great to have all 4 moons in one image plus the GRS.

Very well done.

Great image, Dave. A couple of years ago amateurs were excited if they got details inside the GRS. Yours has heaps and detail on the moons too. Just amazing.
