After seeing a clear sky for the first time in over a week I ventured outside for my attempt at M8. Seeing Jeffkops image of M8 I was having second thoughts of posting... but here it is.

A total of 37min and 33sec for a total of 14 images using DSS to select the best 80% and processing in Photoshop with Noiseware. (Further tweaked by Joe Perulero).

ED80 with Canon350D, broadband filter and autoguided with a DSI.

Comments please.

Well Paul .. I dont know if I would be so quick to in anyway lessen this effort compared to that one of mine. Thats the thing with this stuff, every image is a little different in some way to the others of its kind.

You know what you need to put together to pull an image like this off, so I'de be pretty happy with this reward if I were you, its a great pic, and if someone would have said to me 3 months ago ... you know people will be comparing their images to yours, I would have had them breath tested.

So thanks for the compliment, its well received.

I will have the scope out tomorrow night as will most interested people in Australia .. hope we all get something admirable.

Thanks Mark, Alex and Jeff for you words of encouragement.

I dare say Jeff you are so right with your words, every image is different. We can only strive and pick up the tips as we go and hope for the nice catch.
I will continue hopefully to capture more and add it too this image and see how that turns out.

If this wind drops here in Wollongong I will most probably be venturing out tonight.

Lets see what happens.

youve got some nice detail there, and some nice reds, the stars are nice and tight too which says your tracking is good.
id be interested to see what would happen if you used the highlights /shadow tool in photoshop as this helps bring out some of the detail towards the lower end of the histogram

cheers clive.

Good image well done however like all artists you underestimate the quality of your work, let your peers be the judge besides there are enough critics in the world without putting yourself down.

Thanks Clive, I will fiddle and see what happens as I am still relatively new to this image processing in Photoshop.

I think you are right Trevor, the more I looked at it and played around the more unsure I'd become, its the second set of eyes that makes the difference. Many thanks.
