I thought I would try to capture one the outer planets while I had the telescope outside. I thought I would try my luck with the 450D and I was surprised to end up with this. I wanted to capture Uranus with my DMK but as usual, it clouded over.
Is it just me or can you see a moon and some kind of ring system?
Thanks for looking.

Interesting.
I thought the ring system was really faint though.
I would suggest you try to image again with the optical train at a different angle.
Nice moons -well done.:D

Thanks guys,
I like like to believe that they are rings but knowing that the ring system is quite faint. I'm not too sure what I have captured. I'm looking forward to capturing it againg with the DMK.
Does anyone know what moon that is?

I don't know what you're seeing as a ring system?
It's far too faint and there's nowhere near enough resolution to resolve anything like that with your setup.
Most likely artifacts due to the overexposure.
Nice work capturing some of the lesser imaged planets.

Hi Matty,
I had time to look more closely at your image. I doubt if you have imaged the rings but there are two moons around mag 14 in these positions.
The obvious moon would be Oberon.
Again nice image.;)

Thanks for the shots! I'm gearing up for Neptune and Uranus next. Thanks for whetting my appetite! I never thought to try to capture a moon when I caught Uranus before - good idea.

Good luck,
Looking forward to seeing the results.

Thanks Lester,
I'll definitely give it a go next time with the DMK.

Cmon peoples ive heard no amatuer astronomer has ever imaged Uranas`s rings true or false?
Nice images Matt.
No amateur has imaged the rings eh!, could be a challenge in that. I'm not sure how to go about it but it sure sounds intriguing.

dont know about the rings, the far away looks like a maybee but when its close up i think ...... nup.
be interesting to know the angle in respect to the picture, if they are the same plane as the pic .... id claim it regardless:lol:
