Credit where credit is due my friend... It is an impressive shot... Not only the photographic technical side, but impressive that you had the nerve to get that close to something that looked like a wasp!! I've always wanted to get a macro lens and get some shots all up close and personal with bugs etc... however my sever aversion to bugs etc. precludes me from such activities... :)

David, I really love your stuff, the little bitty bits of backyard life are my favourites. Birds are OK, but give me a closeup of a dragon-fly's eyes or the stain glass structure of a bee's wings anytime:D Don't throw things... unless they're a new Canon 70-200 F2.8IS with 2x tele-extender so I can join the birdy types:P

David. I used to be the same.. I used to laugh at canon users... Then I owned an L lens... :P now I have nikons as backups and L glass coming out my.... glASS

alex alex alex.... while L glas is really good i can show tests thatshow for example a sigma 120-400 OS HSM is sharper and has less CA than the canon 100-400 L :)

i kid you not. L's were once to best glass you could get but i think everyone has caught up :)

the optics quality is not all that makes a good lens. its extremely important, but also speedy/precise auto focus, build quality etc.. Mind you my old Nikkor 300 F/4 ED IF is awesome in every respect. as is the tokina 300 2.8.

But I'm yet to own something that keeps up with the 70-200 F/4 or the 400 F/5.6 L lenses.
