Had to throw this up sorry.
Just Levels and curves so far and lots of wierd colours came out :)
Not sure whats wrong but lots of data to process yet and I'm waiting on darks.

that is a very strange looking eagle....

The focus seems good and the exposures have brought out the nebulosity nicely, nice strong pillars... hope further editing can calm those colors down a bit...

Gotta be a bad dark/bias etc, but worth a look :)

Here is a nice red M16 although I'm not happy with it.
Stars look over exposed to me and my 5 min shots are the same.

I am so pissed off with myself for not taking Flats.
That has made the whole night a total waste of time ......
Had to crop this one to cut out the gradient ... grrrrr .... and that makes it look out of focus :(

Live and learn I suppose .....

Very unusual colors there!
Also my target last night as well :)
I say the focus looks good as well.
Can`t you use flats from another occasion? As long as you have darks from last night, you should get a nice result!
cheers

Robin, I think the second shot is very nice considering no flats, good focus and detail in the neb. You can take the flats at another time so long as the optical train is the same - eg FR, camera orientation and focus the same. I do not take flats for each run and leave the OTA setup untouched (except minor focus adjustments) and the flats seem to be reuseable probably not ok with the purists but I have a set for each config I use.

I can see a little field rotation in the image but I am being picky, at that image scale you should be very pleased - especially since all the gear is new(ish) to you. Apply some post-image run flats the image can only get better!

the 2nd shot has come out a lot better. perhaps try to take the red levels down a touch..

Cheers guys, I'll dig up some flats from another run and see what I get :)
I guess if I kept the camera reasonably square it should be ok.

Nice work Robin, a good result. :)

It looks a little over saturated with the reds but apart from that it has come out great. Lots of detail especially in the pillars.

Well done.

Yes, the lastest image looks much better. Well done.

Having another look at the first one you posted. It almost looks like a narrowband image.

Found the cause of all my problems when going to take some new flats.
CWB had been changed in the camera to a photo of something :D

I've corrected and updated the image.
