First attempt at this popular object, I originally wasn't going to post my first capture and was going to wait for more data but with processing help thanks to Eric (Ezystyles), I think my first attempt is now worth a look.

10 x 30sec subs @ ISO400 with darks, stacked in DSS
Taken with Vixen ED115S and unmodded 350D

Thanks for looking.

what a beauty! I see one of your subs caught a satellite going through the top left hand corner...

You've sure caught alot of the nebulosity for only 30sec subs... (go for gold son! 10 minutes!!

Very nice for short exposures, good detail. Are you just imaging unguided at the moment? If so, what is the max exposure duration you have achieved before noticeable tracking error shows?

Hehe thanks Alex, once I get guiding sorted I'll be going for long subs I can assure you!

Thanks.

Unguided at the moment, have a guidescope but just waiting for the right bracket to fix it.

I can really only stretch 60-75secs before I get tracking errors popping up, eg. star trails.

me 2.... Astrofest on wednesday... I'll be using a rather odd setup, however it will be guided and 5 minute subs of Andromeda are on the cards....

Odd setup being, 6" refractor as a guidescope, 300mm f/2.8 + 350D piggybacked.... Might go the 300 + 2x TC on M8/M20... 600mm should be wide enough for the pair...

It has come out great for such short subs. Looks very promising.

Very well done.

Great colours with an unmodded cam. Nice and crisp. I understand about the short subs with no guiding. A fine line between detail and mush. Thanks for sharing.
