Very cool John, thank you.
Crikey there's hardly any parties at all going on in Novaya Zemlya ! Come to think of it, there's not much going on in most of Oz compared to some of the other bright blotches around. Cool image though - thanks :thumbsup:

Wow, that is very cool.
The amount of energy that it takes to power all those lights must be incredible.
Thanks for posting.

I'm sorry to be a wet blanket but I don't think this is an image. I think it is generated from some data source. I tried to search Bert Christensen's site for more details but ran out of patience.
My evidence? The errors I can see. If you look in central Oz you'll find Alice and Ulluru; so what is that sse of Ulluru? Now look at the top of WA near Joseph Bonaparte Gulf. I see Kununurra and Halls Creek but HC is brighter than Kununurra and Wyndum is missing. If you can see Halls Creek, where is Birdsville? I can find Derby and Broome but not Port Headland or Karatha. And the Rabbit Flat roadhouse rates two dots.
Of course the pattern shown is generally correct. You wouldn't want to live in Japan, Western Europe or most of the USA; darkest Africa still exists and the Amazon Basin is unlit. But I wonder about the outline around northern India, what are the two bright dots east of Madagascar, and if Rabbit Flat can be seen why is nothing visible in the Antarctica. I wonder about these things....
:eyepop: oh you were a wet blanket alright :sadeyes:
:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:
