We do lots of things bigger over here, even landscaping. When a tree is required it is sent out for.

This monster (weighing 36 tonnes) has come about 3 000km's from the Kimberley all the way down to Perth to be replanted at Kings Park. A new main road was under construction up there so rather than bring in the bulldozers it (and several smaller others) were transplanted into a new exhibit.

The photos were taken as the tree passed through our little town of Bullsbrook just out of Perth near the end out its journey. A very impresive sight.

Bloody hell that is some tree, imagine the hole they have to dig to plant that one.

I read about this story in my local paper here in New Zealand. It's good to see the pictures.

I heard they under estimated the weight of the tree and had to get a bigger truck. Not surprising, everythings bigger in WA isn't it?

I used to work in WA. I loved it. :)

All I hope is that it survives the trauma of the transplant, transport and Perth's winter weather.

A pretty impressive feat, not something you would see every day.

It's a biggy innit :) I believe there have been a few others transplanted successfully in the past, hope this one survives OK.

Better to see it survive than for it to become the front page of the newspaper (literally).

That's big!

I wish I could "transplant" some trees from my backyard.

Yep, there is a smaller healthy Boab at Kings Park that I have seen, possibly others.
