Interesting, never even knew v3 was released.
Still have v2 and it just auto-updated a day or two ago to 2.0.0.16, I guess that means Firefox doesn't auto-update to major revisions....
Thanks.

I'm also using FF2 . Is there any reason why I should or should not update?

The speed of Firefox v3 has just amazed me, especially when logging into Gmail! I highly recommend it, note some extensions may not work (although all mine did okay).

Actually, the more I think about it, the more I remember(Danger!) Firefox auto-updating from v1.5 to v2... strange.
Thanks Troy, gonna give v3 a try, does it overwrite previous installs?

FF3 is great. Geoff it's well worth the download and install. Much much quicker, more stable, less memory intensive.

Firefox is an excellent browser. Very stable. I literally haven't picked up a virus or trojan since installing it (not that I know of anyway!!) - much better and more secure than Internet Explorer, even if it takes a bit longer to load up. We use it at work on all our Windows systems. Have given IE the flick.

I am using FF3 and it is certainly faster at loading pages. However it seems to be much slower to start up compared to the older version.

I noticed that too after upgrading (thanks Mike).

For anyone still using IE, firefox is much nicer and seems so much faster than IE in loading pages, which appears to wait until every ad and bit of crap is downloaded before displaying anything.

Absolutely, that's one of the strengths of FF - it starts displaying the page straight away whereas IE doesn't show anything until the very end.

I use both IE & Firefox, some webpages I prefer with one or the other :juggle:

Ditto, still have IE installed(grrrr) 'coz FF occasionally garbles a page (text over images anyone?)
But it hasn't happened for a while.

Edit: oh, and I have a couple of (non-MS) programs that insist IE is installed, they don't work without it, very annoying.

It did happen in v2 occasionally and fixed itself on a page refresh. I haven't seen it happen in FF3 though.

Don't you just hate that. Microsoft SDK's for instance
