Sky is clear, Moon is bright, and the seeing isn't bad on Jupiter tonight. Hey that rhymes! Some definite jetstream activity but the detail is fairly clean when it steadies.

So get out the scope and check out Jupiter and the Moon tonight!

But it is cold.. hands are starting to freeze up, can't type. Had to take the gloves off to type but my bones are locking up already.

2am here and it has not cleared as promised. All it has done is just stopped raining. Hi level clouds, can only see the brightest of stars. 24 hours will fix it :)

Was a lovely night in the end. The seeing stayed reasonably good (above average at least) with a few moments of really good seeing.

I was able to bring my mirror down to ambient (around 7deg) before starting imaging thanks to my active cooler.

The temperatures stayed stable around 7.2deg until about 12:15am when the temperatures dropped rapidly to about 5deg. It was noticeable in the image on the screen as the mirror was warmer now, and the image was much less stable.
I would've had to turn the cooler back on to bring the mirror temperature down, but I only had another 30 minutes or so before Jupiter was going to go behind the trees so I called it a night. I needed sleep anyway.

Had a couple of eyepiece views while doing the meridian flip and re-collimating. Man it looked beautiful. Unfortunately the GRS wasn't facing us, it transited a few hours earlier.

5 to 7°! Looxury! (Imagine that with a Yorkshire accent;)) That's about our max temps here during the day.:P:) We had a really heavy frost this morning - the start of hoar frost. Wish I wasn't running late for work to get some photos.

Glad the seeing we good Mike! I stood no chance of getting a scope out last night. I'm baching for a few days and on call for work, had cooking to do, then visitors...
