First go at Star Trails

After seeing Mike and Deeno's amazing star trail images, I thought I would give it a go myself. I was planning to capture around 200 to 250 30 second images but was stopped short by dew forming on the lens. :sadeyes: I decided to pack it in early only capturing around 20 frames.

Stacked in StarTrails.de and processed in PS CS3. Canon 450D, 18-55mm lens at 18mm. ISO 1600.

The reason for the dotty star trails is because I used ICNR darks. I know next time not to use it.

Looks very different. Nice lighting on the rooftop. Never tried star trails myself. I guess everyone will give them a go after the DM Awards.

Aaaah see? don't need expensive equipemnt after all huh? :P Next years special category is "Twighlight" so get your 10K FLI and 2K 50mm square filter set and 4K FSQ and start mozaicing the horizon after sunset...that should look good (Martin wouldn't think of it either, surely ;)) and could even bag you the inovation prize if you manage to pull it off :D

I was just experimenting with this one and I'm actually happy that the lens dewed up early because otherwise, I would've ended up with dotty star trails.

I'm not sure if it was me or my dog who knocked the tripod. I'll blame the dog. :P :whistle:

I thought about doing this but only have a Sony Cybershot point-and-shoot then I remembered it had to wait 30sec to process and store after a 30sec image(the amount of good lightning I've missed because of this :rolleyes:) so figured it would look like celestial morse-code... but I like the effect!, well done!
