Hey Bruce, :welcome: to IceInSpace!
That's a nice first scope you've got there. Have you got goto on your mount? What have you seen so far?
Are you using it purely for visual or do you plan to do any astrophotography?
Make sure you keep asking questions! We hope you enjoy your time here on IceInSpace!
Hello and :welcome: Bruce.
That is a nice scope you have there. (I'm biased) It's the same as mine, minus the drive.
I mostly use it for visual.

:hi:G'day Bruce and welcome to Ice in Space.
Having access to the combined wit and wisdom of the members here is almost as important as having access to decent optics.
You now have both.

Welcome Bruce, :welcome:
Lots of friendly and knowledgable people here. Dont know something, even though it may sound silly, ask away someone will know the answer!
With that scope you will have a ball, basically the same as mine and it is still amazing me!!
Enjoy. :D

I have an sw600 too, now can anyone tell me why there are two caps on the dust cover? just haveing one open seem to defeat the whole more light in thing.?
Not familiar with the scope, but I think they aid in focusing, with the dust cover on and the two caps off , an out of focus star will look like two stars, they will merge when in focus.
Likewise, I'm not sure, but I thought I saw this issue discussed some time ago. And I thought it was decided that the extra cap was so that people wanting to do solar viewing could do so through a smaller hole - with the appropriate filters in place of course. The thinking being that you don't need to let the full apertures-worth of light in from such a bright subject.
If this is total crap, please just excuse me, - but I do recall something like this from before as I said.
Just my 2c
