My son and I spent some time today trying to capture "Birds in Flight".
It's hard work! The blighters won't oblige by flying at a set speed, in the right direction, and within 50ft so you don't have to try to track them at full zoom.
Here's the best of our efforts for the day.
Not a patch on your's Dennis, but I'm sure both you and Alex appreciate the effort that goes into them.

Well done Jeanette!

Hi Jeanette
You are selling yourself short there JJJ – that is a terrific collection of Ibis in flight photos! You’ve retained some lovely detail in both the shadows and the highlights, which is really quite a challenge (well, to me at least!) for black and white birds against a bright sky background, zooming along at a gazillion miles an hour!
The last photo looks gorgeous – the graceful sweep of the wings and the subtle tones reveal the details in the feathers without burning them out to a featureless white mass.
I think the 1st one is a Straw Necked Ibis and the others are of the Australian White Ibis (see, I can read books!).
Cheers
Dennis

I used my camera on fully automatic on all the shots. With the way the clouds were scudding across the sun so quick and often, it seemed best.
Also, I did sharpen them up a bit with neat image, but only by the smallest of small amounts. You can't enhance too much without taking away from the original image.

Great shots Jeanette. You know, ibis always remind me of those aliens that chased after Bugs Bunny....they look the same:P:D:D
Nicely captured JJJ, clear and well detailed, well done.

They all look great Jeanette, you should be rightly proud. I'm flat out tracking bees from flower to flower 2 feet from my face... birds are out of my league:D
