Hi all,
Here are a couple of shots of a sun halo taken from the Tweed Coast this morning. The first has the sun positioned behind the Fingal Head lighthouse. There was a similar halo around the moon for a while this evening when I was photographing the Saturn/Mars conjunction - in fact I've just looked outside and it's still visible!
Cheers,
Stephen

Nice shots Stephen, although it looks like your sensor could do with a (careful) clean!
I just poked my head outside the window and all I saw was a somewhat hazy, watery Moon; sadly, no halo for me tonight!
Cheers

Thanks guys.
Dennis, I think it's the lens rather than the sensor (?), because the spots only come up then I shut the aperture right down. Unfortunately I think they may be on the inside surfaces, and I'm not really sure what to do about that. Any suggestions? I guess I'll leave the aperture open for now!
Cheers,
Stephen

I had spots on my D50 that I thought were on the lens due to them only showing up at F/8 - 22... then I realised it happened with EVERY lens I had at F/8-22 took a wet sensor clean to fix mine... it was... frightening to say the least.
Very nice shots of the halo, I particularly like the halo above the light house. Very artistic angle...
The moon had a lovely halo thursday night, shame I was at work without my camera :(

Excellent images, Stephen!
It's definitely the sensor - the dust always shows up more when the aperture is stopped right down.
