Folks in Brisbane that may have the telescope out tonight. Is the seeing carp or is it my scope thats still out hard to tell i can not even get the rings of Saturn. Stars look blurred out.

You’re a keen, brave, foolhardy or blindly optimistic man – have you seen the Jet Stream map (http://weather.wvec.com/auto/wvec/global/Region/AU/2xJetStream.html)? It’s howling right over your place right now, hence the dodgy conditions!:lol::lol:

Yip just looked at the jet stream as i came back in:eyepop:. (Should have check that first)

Oh well the light has travelled millions of light years to get to the scope. So 20mins or so under the scope does not seem too bad.

I first thought it was my new Takahashi LE 7.5mm ep viewing Jupiter , good to hear you're experiencing same as me here in Albany creek.

That jetstream map was for 4pm yesterday.

Although...conditions are still fairly average tonight.

Here's the predicted jetstream map (300mb) for midnight tonight.

I have little knowledge of jetstream maps.. but if my instincts tell me correctly, by midnight it should be stunning!

(hope so... the 70-200 is itching to let off a few shots towards the sky..)

I had the scope out looking at Jupiter, and the conditions were bad early on, but seemed to improve substantially after about 9:30 pm (although the temperature didn't improve!)

in the deep space images forum :) only did a couple of wide field images alignment was rough as guts so anything more than 1 minute at 135mm was causing streaks instead of stars... :)

Got a GPUSB on the way for guiding the deep space shots, and still waiting for rings for my newt... 5x powermate is on the way also :D Im raring to go... Bring on the Jupiter pics I say.
