LOLOL
People can be so stupid at times.
I know of adults who didn't know that you can see the Moon in the daytime.
Bless 'em.
They make me feel smart.

And yet, they've probably been looking at the damn thing all their lives.

Although, it's probably not as bad as a survey taken in the US a few years ago.... 75 million people didn't even know that the Earth orbits the Sun!!!!!!.

On a slightly different note, a few months ago there was a report of a new minor planet a few metres across heading towards earth. I forget the details, but it was given an official minor planet number, until someone realised it was a spacecraft on a slingshot trajectory.

I've heard of similar stories. My uncle works on a large ship, one morning after the night shift he's just plodding on and mentioning things he could see and said that there was an odd light on the horizon, turns out it was the moon rising, can't blame him, doing his job.

I read an article in a local Far South Coast paper where a person had called the boys in blue to complain his crop had been pinched.:screwy:

The coppers, naturally interested went to the property to investigate where the gentleman concerned then told then the thieves had only stolen one patch of plants but had not found the second bigger crop.

Guess what, the police did.

He must have smoked to much of the profits.

It's mean of us to call them idiots when really it's the government and thier education systems fault for treating them like so much cattle.

I remember growing up and learning more about American history and geography than most Americans know in a lifetime about their own country,

Yes it's like someone once said "ignorance is bliss" do you think if they actually had to think would they have ended up electing George Bush.

The UK recently declassified hundreds of UFO reports, and you can download them and view them from here (http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/ufos/). I read one of the pdf files worth of reports, and it is amazing how many people confuse stars or planets, especially venus, for ufo's.

Yep, makes reporting distress flares pretty difficult too.
I used to live on the beachfront and occasionally saw flares so would ring the local sea rescue. Pretty much every time I got a 5min run-around on whether it was just Venus we were looking at or some other bright star or even a meteor.
I would have to politely explain to them that I know how Venus appears in the sky and what stars look like and then would describe to them the flare I saw.

I can understand why they go to great lengths to discount possible Venus sightings!

Hi Kal, I was looking at the downloads for those files. There is a few hefty downloads in that lot.
