Had a look at the picture wasn't what I expected from the thread title. Pete looked at your gear list see that you have a K100d as well hwo do you power yours for long sessions.

In a word, I don't - haven't - probably won't. The batteries last ok on the K100 but it doesn't have mirror lockup and it's only 6 mega pixels. As I have quite a good choice of bodies, I'll stick with the canon (20D or 400D) as (so I'm told) the CMOS sensor is more suited to long exposures than the CCD sensors in Pentax. :shrug:

Thats a ripper shot mate.. looking into the sunset with the scope in the foreground really depicts the anticipation of a night observing/imaging...

A must have sort of photo for any astronomer.

Thanks Alex, I've been yearning to add astronomy as a hobby for years. I guess experience with general photography complements nicely.

Oh yes, I'm a collector all right (terrible isn't it) :D

You're right about the "anticipation of a night observing/imaging" always itchin to get started once I've set the gear up..... :thumbsup:

yeah, your pic really captured the essence of the moment thats for sure.

The only terrible thing about collecting is when you look at all your photographic gear and say to yourself... "If I sold it all, I could probably be driving a brand new car.."

Then you come to your senses obviously and say PFFT... Car Schmar... I have 5 cameras and 21 lenses.. :)

Yeah but, I have different uses for most of my cameras and - you can never have enough lenses...........:P

But my most expensive hobby is music tho - I'd have $50,000 worth of gear (at least) so astronomy and photography is cheap in comparison :whistle:
