Hi all,
here is a quicky process of Jupiter from this evening. I have got an early start in the morning with work and may not get to processing the rest for a few days. Jupiter was very steady, and if not my best, it is close to it.
This is captured at 7,000mm FL = 2x barlow

Wow Lester that's a ripper alright. I think you'll do better with some reprocessing when you get more time. The data certainly looks fantastic!
Congrats, it's been a drought for a while.

Excellent detail and colour - a beautiful shot. I'd be happy to take one half as good. What time of the night was it taken?

Thanks everyone for your comments, appreciated.
I took these images at around 11pm
Here is another avi processed, with extention tube and 2x barlow giving just over 12,000mm FL, any bigger and Jupiter wouldn't fit in the FOV.
I would rate this as my best Jupiter image ever. As my processing skills improve, I may be able to tweek a bit more out of it.
Still got some more avis to go through and one of Ganymede by it self.
That's even better, Lester.
Well done!

Holy cow Lester, that is truly awesome!!!!
The details are fantastic, I will need to watch out for traffic as we swing around the starcruiser to dock with the space station on Io!
Its like we are in orbit.....simply astounding!

I would be excited even if i got a fuzzy picture of Jupiter lol ;)
Wow, that's very nice Lester! The processing looks good and you must have had some fantastic seeing as well!

Thanks Jen and Anthony.
I had had light showers for the previous 4 days, which would have cleaned out the atmosphere of dust, followed by very calm conditions and minimal jetstream.
The question in my mind now is; how much better detail can I get with my set-up? Perhaps the move to a mono camera is next for me. Guess I will wrestle with this thought for a while.

Just excellent, Lester. They show the DBK can still produce magnificent images when the seeing is superb.
Mono+RGB will definitely be the next step for you.

This last image still looked a tad flat, so added some saturation to give it a lift.
Thanks Mike for your comments.

Thanks for your comments, Nick and Alex.
Here is another tweek. I tried for the first time a deconvolution in M.E after all the other processing. This sharpened the final image only by a small amount, without introducing burnout in the brighter areas.

Still tweeking, just added extra black around the image.
I think it adds a bit to the image.

Thanks Chris.
Now I would like to learn how to put some text on my images.
Can this be done in Photoshop?

Winter has set in here, so still processing, and with some more improvements. I have been reading Bird's planetary processing that I had saved on my computer some time ago. Found the info on image loss regarding sharpening/ unsharpmask interesting.
So with this image I only applied some sharpening at the end of all other processing. The result = less burn-out and I hope more pleasing to your eyes.

Nice one Lester, probably the best yet.
A little bit grainy where the others were a bit smoother, but very nice colours and detail.
