I looked at the North America nebula tonight and it was easy to see with 20x80 binoculars and no filter. The nebulae transits after 2am, 15 degrees above my northern horizon. To find it start from Deneb and move to the right to two magnitude 5 stars called 56 and 57 Cyg. The nebula is to the right of those two stars and upside down for us. A wide field is needed because NGC 7000 is 2 degrees across and a UHC filter helps if you are using a telescope.

Looked at about 30 nebulae last night with my 12" Dob, used a UHC filter and 21mm EP for the emission nebulae and no filter and a 13mm EP for the reflection nebulae. Started with NGC 6888 in Cyg and finished with NGC 602 in the SMC.
