View Full Version here: : Im missing the Orion Nebula already
I love viewing it  everytime i get my scope out i always go to it first ;) How long do we have to wait for it to be visible in the sky again :confuse3:

Give it a week or so and then get up around 4am and look to the eastern horizon! You'll find it there rising before astro twilight begins! (before sunrise!)

No problem. Just get up and be observing in the east around 6:30 in the morning. OK, it's only up at about 12-15 deg elevation, but it should be there for a while before dawn swamps it. :)
 thanks guys phew im glad i dont have to wait for months to see it again it such a beautiful thing to observe even though i cant see any colors in it wif my baby scope :P
Hi Jen hear is a photo for you that i took. This should help till you can see i for real.

Yeah.. I'm missing it too... It was always target #1 for any observation night for me... And the horsehead/flame were going to be my first deep space imaging target... but looks like I'll have to point at M20 or M16 intead...
oh well... still plenty to look at, but orion has a certain feel about it (and who doesnt love to split the trapezium!)

Personally I find the Eta Carinae region more compelling; but that's just me, & perhaps I am strange. :screwy:

I agree with Phil - cruising the milky way around eta to scorpius/sag is much more rewarding - you stumble on all manner of things.
the globular clusters are fanatastic

M42 was the very first deep sky object I observed with my scope and it is one of my favourite.
I always stop by and have a quick look see before I do anything else when it is visible.
:eyepop:Awwwwwww thanks Phil i love the pic i put it on my desk top is that ok  i feel better now ;)

It,s the trapezium in the centre of M42 that gets the attention , Use high power and split the 4 to make 6 next time it comes around.....cheers kev.
