Captured the Eagle Nebula after Omega Centauri dropped to low in the sky. Nothing special but I am happy how it came out. Longer subs and more of them would have helped this image. I had to really push the processing to bring out some nebolsity.

11 x 1 minute subs, ISO 1600, Stacked in DSS and processed in PS CS3.

You got the pillars! you have to be happy with that, and for 11mins of data, its actually quite surprising! next time if you have the time, do 20x1min or if your alignment is good, it would be better to go 11 to 15 2min exposures, or even longer if your guiding is good enough...

You are progressing very well, I hope when I get my EQ6 Pro I can get results somewhere around this quality in such a short amount of time too.

Nice shots:)

Matty, I did a little jiggery pokery to your image (made some adjustments to the curves in RGB and a bit of colour balance tweaking) and got the following. Hope you don't mind:)

Looks a little darker...not as much "haziness".

Did you take it with the 450D??

Separate RGB channels??

Nice attempts Matty .. Eagle Neb is my favourite and will be doing some serious imaging of it when I get the gear needed

Good job

It's a tough target for an unmodded camera. Nice result Matt.

Thanks Alex,

Longer subs would have been nice but when you don't have guiding it starts to make things quite difficult. I'm stoked with how much nebolsity I was able to capture with only 11 mins of data.

This is one object I am definitely going to revisit. :)

Thanks renormalised,

All my DSO images are taken with my Canon 450D.

Thanks Mark,

It is one of my favourite DSOs aswell. I'm looking forward to having another go at it soon.

Thanks Mike.

Hi Mat,
good going for such short exposures on this object.

Crank up the sub exposures for objects with fairly low surface brightness and you'll be surprised at how much easier they are to process and bring out pleasing detail.

Keep up the good work.
