How many of you nerds :D have their gear insured seperately on their contents policy.
I sat down the today and worked out that the combined replacement value of my equipment was around $5000 conservatively. I bet a lot of you have spent more than that and don't have their gear listed on their policies.
Well worth considering

Definately insured. $5000, :eyepop: That would only just replace one of my mounts
I'm so bad.
btw Trevor do a bit of a search through the much earlier threads from IIS. There was a poll placed on just this topic.

I am not in favour of this type of thread as I don't think you should advertise to the thiefs out there what you have got, even though it'sin most peoples signiture.

Any evidence of ownership can be a useful thing. Photos, boxes etc. Dont throw away those eyepiece boxes!
I was told a catalogue on pc of owned cd's/dvd's is acceptable too. Just make the date stamp is prior to any incidents ;)
Agreed Geoff, anything over a $1000.00 in value is listed on the policy itself, so they know exactly what I have, and anything smaller is very carefully cataloged, date purchase and for how much.
I would be amazing how much one would forget if the house burned down.
Leon.
PS, and I will get in early here there are two copies, in two different locations, not both in the house

LOL, yeah, when I list my 5" scope I really mean the 50cm SDM I use all the time with my full set of Naglers and my Televue Ethos 13mm eyepiece and my DMK21 Mono one shot camera connected to my Quad core 1TB 17" screen laptop. Of course all of this is in a portable lightweight Fibreglass observatory which just happens to fit on a trailer so there wouldnt be much left to show the assessor....damn.....I took a picture and kept the receipts, but I store my documents and boxes in the observatory - DOH!
