Hi,

A couple of things I have thought of and would like to suggest.

1) Unread threads that you have contributed to. One thing I do a lot of is look at the threads where I have commented or started personally. The way I get a list of my entries is to click on my name and use the "find all threads by Screwdriverone" option. This gives me a chronological list of contributed threads and shows whether they are unread or not. My suggestion is to have a drop down or an automatic sort so the threads that have new entries in them are put at the top of the list so that you can access them easily and quickly. Sometimes I have to drill down 4 or five pages to find all the unread threads.

2) New thread button on all pages. Quite often, while reading someone's thread I find that I want to create a new thread in that forum section I am in. To do this I would like a new thread button next to the add reply button on all pages so that you can quickly add a new thread to the same forum without having to go back to the main page of the forum to start the thread using the new thread button.

Thats all for now, thanks for reading my suggestions.

Chris

#1: I like and I think there's probably an elegant solution to that. Leave it with me.

#2: You wont get. Sorry  It would be a confusing button. I know what you're saying but when you're viewing a thread, you have the menu items & buttons that are associated with doing 'stuff' in that thread. To create a new thread, you have that option when you're viewing the threads of a particular forum. If I add a "New Thread" option within a thread, it's a guarantee that people will mistakenly use that when they want to reply to that thread.

Thanks for the suggestions. It's difficult to be objective sometimes of what might be a good feature. Your input is always welcome (and needed, actually).

Hi Terry,

Thanks for #1, I look forward to a solution if you can get one going.

as for #2, its not a biggy and I understand the issues associated with it. You can bin that idea. ;)

Cheers

Chris

Chris for #1 you could always go to your user CP and click on the subscribed threads (assuming you are subscribing to threads automatically) link. It then lists all the threads you have contributed to in chronological order of newest post by someone. Also when you click on the New Post link any thread you are subscribed to will have a green "dot" icon attached to the envelope in the leftmost column.

Ahhh, Thanks Paul and Alex,

I have switched on the auto subscribe with no email notification in the CP and this works a treat! Thanks for the tip, I am not sure whether there is a need for any mods to the site re #1 now.

I really should have read the User CP options before posting, Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Cheers

Chris

heh. No no. It was a good suggestion. It's taken me off on a tangent :)

For #1. Yes. Subscriptions will do what you want, Chris. But there's also an elegant solution.
